The Idea Grows Teeth

This thread says it all and was triggered by a "get together" at Doug's house in early August 2008 where they wrenched on the bikes and talked with Michael Lary who had recently returned from a ride through British Columbia and into Alaska a ways. Start at bottom if thread.

I think we're thinking of July sometime. Mike said that July is bookended by wet months of June & August...

I am good with late July or anytime August.....if that is in the ballpark of thoughts at this time. June is also good, I believe.

We should discuss dates... so we can start planning around it.

I've CC'd my friend Jeremy who has a 07 GS... he's thinking of joining us. Mike Larry said he might be interested in going all the way this time.

The Idea

The idea to ride from Seattle to Prudhoe began during our June 2008 Vegas ride. We camped at Lake Mead and the photo shown is of Doug's GSA, John's R12C, and my GSA at the Valley of Fire. Somewhere on this trip the idea of riding to Alaska was just a dream. It only made sense considering John and Doug were loopy from riding from the Canadian border to Tijuana a few days earlier. Oh yeah...I better mention they did that ride within 22 hours. I had just completed an Ironbutt (1,000 miles in a day) ride from Northwest Arkansas to Winslow, Arizona. Ya know the song...
